This section of the website contains a variety of resources to support teachers and pupils who want to visit Knockan Crag and understand fully the remarkable significance of this site for all who study Earth Science.
Although many of the resources are targeted principally at the Upper Primary and Lower Secondary stages, there is much that may be relevant to visits by younger or older pupils.
The resources have been organised into a set of topics. Each topic page contains links to the downloadable resources for that topic.
The teaching resources refer, in some instances, to rock samples. Samples are available for teachers to borrow from the local SNH office. Please send your request to using the form on the contacts page.
The ways in which a visit to Knockan Crag relates to the Environmental Studies 5-14 curriculum national guidelines are summarised here.
